Nominations due Wednesday. Where are the candidates?

11/1/2010 by John Borelli

Nominations for elected NEFA postions are due this Wed, Nov 3. Sadly, only a handful of people have thrown their hats into the ring to help guide NEFA through the next year.

There are 400 NEFA members and just 8 nominees. Each position has one candidate so far, except for VT rep and Treasurer which have none.

Come on golfers! Get involved! Things are changing and many good things are happening in New England. Be part of it. We don't bite.

The forum bad mouthing is ruining NEFA. There is more BS than anything else. And a select few have made it their mission to create mindless dissent.

I second that. Moderate the forums like they should be, if the posters can't clean up their act. Why would anyone throw their hats into the ring with the awesome support network you guys have shown over the past six months?????

I agree, interest in NEFA is down due to a few very vocal squeaky wheels causing trouble instead of being constructive. I believe the majority of it stems from the Team Challenge; you can't expect 16 people (and their egos)to play against 16 others for pride and not have a few arguments break out. The bad blood spills into the non-Team Challenge forums and disrupts the entire NEFA board and the good it used to be able to accomplish. Let's get back to the basics of what NEFA is about: getting courses in the ground, running a solid tournament series, introducing new players to the sport, and maintaining a positive sportsmanship attitude towards everything disc golf related. We shouldn't junk the car because of a few squeaky wheels... but it has to be the responsibility of the non-vocal majority to get this thing tuned up.

I would love to want to be involved in something that helps grow the sport that I enjoy playing and want others to enjoy playing as well. Unfortunately I don't want to get caught up in all the BS that from the naked eye, NEFA is all about at this point in time. People say they want to help the organization, but aren't willing to take all the right steps in order to do so. You can't be part of a committee or a work group, and then bash the courses that you play at or the people you play with. Trash talking is one thing, but some people on here take it to a new level, and it results in more people joining them that would otherwise not. Don't stoop to the level of the people you don't like, because it makes you just as liable for the downfall.
