NEFA comes together in a big way to support tornado victims

6/13/2011 by John Borelli

In yet another display of caring and general awesomeness, the local disc golf community has come together to raise funds and supplies for the victims of the recent tornadoes in central and western MA.

Spearheaded by Erin Tivnan and helped along by Jason Southwick of Marshall Street Disc Golf and TD Matt DeAngelis, thousands of dollars were raised at two recent tournaments. Great job, guys!

How can you help?

Erin has supplied us with this helpful info:

> Brimfield donations can be made to the Town of Brimfield with "The Harding Fund" written in the memo line and sent to the Selectmens Office at 23 Main St. Brimfield, MA 01010.

> Monson is taking donations at the Monson Savings Bank or the church on High St. (the one with the broken steeple on the news) with checks to the Town of Monson and "tornado relief" written in the memo line.

> Contact information for donations in Brimfield is 413-245-7253 or 413-245-7162. Monson's contact information is 413-238-1782. And again, thank you!

We will also have a donation table set up at Disc Jam this weekend. Hyland was spared by a couple of miles, but the camp ground for this weekend was leveled.
