Head up to Coeymans, NY Saturday for the J-Park Jammer as they unveil their expanded 28-hole layout in this PDGA-C and NEFA points event.

If NY is not your thing, head to W. Gardiner, ME for the CR Farm Open, which is also a PDGA and NEFA points event.

I'm sure there's a fairway somewhere here on Hole 11 at J-Park!

What makes a good bag good?

Monday, June 7, 2010  by John Borelli

There seems to be a bunch of new disc golf bags hitting the market the past few months. Some have special pockets for all your junk, some have speakers for your iPod, some can be used as a seat, some have special rain covers, and some come in snazzy new colors and prints.

Are manufacturers giving us what we want and need, or are they just trying to out-do one another and create a specialty bag niche? Do you even need a special disc golf bag? I've seen golfers using plastic grocery bags, backpacks, and old bowling ball bags and they still play well. What makes a good disc golf bag good in your opinion, and do you even need one?

Have you tried or seen any of these new bags? Is it time to ditch the old standard blue bag and upgrade to fancy town? Let us know!

Black Falls recap

Thursday, June 3, 2010  by John Borelli

From TD Johnny Betts:

This was the first-ever rain-free event at Black Falls. People had a great time on the challenging new Cherry Hill course and played solid on Black Falls gold to gold.

Daniel Marcus took it down for the second year in row killing everyone in the Pro division. Ian Thurston took down AM1 with a blazing 58 at Cherry Hill.

Justin Kalius beat out Dave "Ace" Carter and Anne Lewis in a heated playoff on the legendary hole 10 gold gold. Mike Brennan took AM Masters and Casey boone won Rec.

This was a great warm up for the two-day disc golf extravaganza in July where people will get the chance to pop the Cherry in its entirety. Thanks to Woodchuck Cider for their support in the GMDGC point series and Vermont DG in general. Thanks to Flicks for the tasty breakfast and lunch. See you all in July.

Big disc golf weekend coming up!

Tuesday, June 1, 2010  by John Borelli

The first weekend of June brings us two of NEFA's favorite and most popular events.

ACTThe ACT

Dave McHale's Amateur Challenge Tournament, better known as the ACT, takes over Wickham Park in Manchester, CT on both Saturday and Sunday. The ACT is a great tournament for golfers who have never played in a tournament as Dave and crew create a very fun, casual, and welcoming atmosphere. The cheap entry fee and ginormous players package and prize list don't hurt either!

This year you have the choice of playing on either Saturday or Sunday. There are only a few spots left open for Saturday and a wait list has started for Sunday. If you can make it, go! (more info)

DDGC

The 10th Dragon Disc Golf Championships (DDGC) takes place this weekend in Maine. TDs Josh Connell and Dave Townsend have upped the ante this year and turned the DDGC into a two-day NEFA and PDGA-B/Charity event on three different courses.

With an estimated $1000 pay day for the Pro Open winner, the DDGC usually draws a few bigname pros and many top New England players. Also up for grabs are free spots to the Vibram Open and Yetter Championship Cup.

Friday is the second annual "Maine Disc Golf Night with the Sea Dogs" where you can go watch the Portland Sea Dogs baseball game for cheap.

Registration ends Thursday June 3.  (more info)
