Davis Johnson playing at Pro Worlds this week!

Friday, July 30, 2010  by John Borelli

Catch a quick shot of MA resident and NEFA original (NEFA #7, PDGA #44) Davis Johnson at the 2:40 mark of this video.

Is there anyone else from NEFA participating at the Pro World Championships this week in Indiana?

Pretty much every top player in the world is playing at Worlds and will be in MA and CT in just a few weeks at the Vibram Open and Cranbury Classic. Don't miss your chance at watching them play in person!

Good luck Davis (and anyone else who snuck out there without telling us!)

Head to the Farm!

Thursday, July 29, 2010  by John Borelli

Bennett Disc Farm in Gorham, ME hosts Maine's double NEFA points event this weekend in a two-day, three-round extravaganza.

The Maine crew knows how to throw an event, so if you missed signing up for this one you still have a slim chance to get in as the waitlist dance continues.

Give a golfer a bed for the Vibram Open

Wednesday, July 28, 2010  by John Borelli

The Vibram Open NT event at Maple Hill in Leicester, MA is just around the corner (Aug 13-15) and NEFA is continuing its tradition of offering traveling golfers a free place to crash. But first, we need some empty beds!

There are at least 12 out-of-state golfers looking to crash somewhere, but only three people so far who have offered up some space.

Be kind. Make a friend. Make their tournament even better. Get an automatic free place to stay when you travel!

If you can help, email Marcy Borelli who is coordinating this and let her know where you live, what you can offer, and how many golfers you can accomodate.

If you are playing in the Vibram Open and need a place to stay, contact Marcy as well. She'll do her best to find you a place to sleep!

It's time for a face lift! Vote in the NEFA logo contest!

Tuesday, July 27, 2010  by John Borelli

With all due respect to John Hart's last NEFA logo, it's time to freshen it up with something modern that reflects the current energy and passion that is New England disc golf.

So, we are having a logo and slogan contest. Let's have fun with this, NEFA!

When voting, keep in mind that the logo may be used on shirts, hats, discs, and in print. Often, simpler is better (and less expensive) to produce on these items. Note that each of these submission's color and design is subject to change to accommodate printing needs.

> Voting starts at noon today (Tuesday)

> Open to NEFA members only and one vote per person.

Complete rules, voting instructions and slogans

> New logos photo gallery

> Questions? Email Titan B.

Thank you to everyone who submitted an entry. We've got some talented disc golfers out there!

Rob Tatro elected as Interim NEFA President

Monday, July 26, 2010  by John Borelli

Submitted by Rob Tatro

Last week I was voted in as interim NEFA president by the NEFA Board of Directors, State Representatives, and volunteers. I have gladly accepted this position and look forward to bridging the gap between the resignation of our former president and our upcoming Fall elections. I feel like my ability to multi-task and work with people will help get our organization back on track and in position for new leadership to possibly take over in the next election.

I had resigned earlier this summer as NEFA Vice President so that I could be with my family during my Dad's illness. While my father's health concerns remain very real, I had no idea when I resigned that there would be such a collapse in our leadership shortly after. I live and breath this organization and love everything that it has done for me and it really hurt to see things fall as they did.

Therefore, I offered up my services last week and after some legitimate concern for me by our current leadership, we agreed to move forward. I hope to be able to serve NEFA well and look forward to working with you all in the near future.

If you have any thoughts or concerns, feel free to email me or call me at 508-397-4410.

Sincerely,

Rob Tatro
NEFA #635
PDGA #22692
