Friday, August 27, 2010  by John Borelli

Submitted by Dave Mourad:

Larry Kirk, a Tech Sergeant at Vandenberg Air Force Base in California, is on a quest to play disc golf course in every sate in the country. He is currently trying to complete some of the last remaining states on his list, all of which are in NEFAland.

On Tuesday, New York was chequed off when he played DUBZ at Warwick Town Park in Warwick, NY. On Wednesday, Connecticut was crossed of his list when he played Page Park in Bristol and Wickham Park in Manchester.

On Thursday, he plans to head to New Hampshire and play Pinnacle Disc Golf Course in Newport.  He then plans to head to Vermont and play Randolph White River Disc Golf Course followed by catching Thursday Night Triples at Center Chains in Waterbury.

On Friday 8/27 he will head to Maine - courses are TBD.

On Saturday 8/28 he will head to Massachusetts - courses are TBD.

On Sunday 8/29 he plans to hit little Rhode Island's Ninigret Park in Charlestown where he'll be at home on a former military base before heading back through Connecticut to complete his New England Loop.

If you are available to meet up with Larry and show him around your course, you may call him at 209.564.7301. As more information about the specific courses Larry will hit becomes available, they will be posted on this thread. More information about Larry can be found in this Vandenberg Air Force Base article.

Golf for fun and charity this weekend

Thursday, August 26, 2010  by John Borelli

Now that the rain has stopped, it's time for some more disc golf! You have three events to choose from this weekend: two in MA and one in ME.

Western MA golfers can head to Holyoke Community College for the HCC Summer Winds NEFA points tournament, while others can head to Sturbridge and help open Don Boutin's new course at Hyland Orchard and Brewery. The PMC Doubles Charity Tournament raises funds for the Pan-Mass Challenge bike ride in which Wendy Boutin participated.

Golfers in Maine should head to Burnsboro disc golf course in Vassalboro for the KDGA Points tournament, which is also a NEFA points event. This is not your traditionally-scored event and sounds like a lot of fun.

CT disc golfers on TV

Wednesday, August 25, 2010  by John Borelli

The media blitz for Wickham Park disc golf continues with this great feature by NBC Connecticut. Nice job, Dave Mourad!

Kylie Hoke and Billy Dunne get some face time, as do touring pros Jay and Des Reading who happened to be giving a clinic at the park that day.

Be sure to watch the whole video as the camera man gets plunked by Des Reading's drive!

The 2nd Round of the NEFA Slogan & Logo Contest is off and flying.

> Vote for a logo and slogan and then email Titan.
Slogans and rules

2nd Round Voting Time Frame: August 23 12:00 PM EST to September 3 11:59 PM EST

Definitely some close races in the round 1. Round 2 should be fun building up to the excitment of crowning the winners.

All NEFA members VOTE for your favorite of the bunch. The more votes received the better chance to reflect the true choice of the organization.

So tell a fellow NEFA member who may not know about the contest to VOTE. This is important folks, we are chosing what the outside world will see when they enter the NEFA Universe.

Thanks to all the artists who submitted entries and to all the creative minds that submitted slogans. NEFA appreciates your hardwork invested!

Thanks to the NEFA members for participating in the contest and to the NEFA web team for assisting in displaying logos.

Good Luck to all in Round 2! I hope everyone is enjoying the contest.

What will the NEW "FACE" of NEFA be....? Stay Tuned and VOTE VOTE VOTE
